About the book:
There is no trauma like Black trauma. Black trauma is often highlighted due to the historical and systemic oppression faced by Black / African Americans, including slavery, segregation, and ongoing racial discrimination. The unique aspects of this trauma are shaped and rooted in a complex history of institutional, systemic and structural racism, unequal access to resources, social injustices, and economic disparities. While other communities may experience trauma, the distinct nature of Black trauma arises from the historical and ongoing challenges specific to the Black / African American experience in the United States. Understanding these social determinants is crucial for addressing the complexities of Black / African American trauma and working towards equitable solutions.
